In photos: Iran’s urial sheep in Fars Province’s mountain ecosystems

The urial sheep of Shiraz, a distinctive blend of Armenian and Larestan wild sheep, inhabits the rocky highlands of Fars Province, particularly Bamu National Park northeast of Shiraz. The species plays an important role in maintaining ecological balance, regulating vegetation and supporting the survival of endangered predators such as the Persian leopard and Asiatic cheetah.
