Explosive ordnance (EO) contamination remains one of the most significant protection, humanitarian, recovery and development challenges facing Syria. Between 1 March and 1 July 2026, 268 EO-related incidents were recorded nationwide, resulting in 452 casualties — 130 people killed and 322 injured.
