Wild poliovirus type 1 (WPV1) Cases: Four new WPV1 positive cases in 2026 from Afghanistan reported this week. The new WPV1 cases are: 2 from Nangarhar province (Behsud and Rodat districts), 1 each from Hilmand province (Musaqalah district) and Hirat province (Shindand district) noting that the Hirat/Shindand case was identified by positive contacts.
