On 24 June 2026, at around 18:05 local time, two strong earthquakes with magnitudes of 7.2 and 7.5 struck north-central Venezuela in rapid succession, with epicentres near Morón (Carabobo state) and San Felipe (Yaracuy state). Tremors were felt across the country, with Greater Caracas (Distrito Capital) and La Guaira state experiencing the most severe damage and declared a ‘disaster zone’, followed by Carabobo, Yaracuy, Mir
