Hamas confirms killing of newly appointed Gaza military chief Hamas has confirmed that its newly appointed military chief in Gaza, Mohammed Odeh, was killed in an Israeli strike on Gaza City. In a statement, the group said an Israeli bomb struck a residential building on Tuesday, killing Odeh along with his wife and two sons. Odeh had become commander of the Qassam Brigades earlier this month after former leader Izz al-Din al-Haddad was killed in an Israeli attack.
