Lebanon and Israel extend truce to bolster political and military negotiations

The two delegations meeting in Washington agreed to extend the ceasefire by 45 days. The Israeli military, however, carried out new airstrikes in southern Lebanon the day after the agreement was reached. A second round of talks is scheduled for early June.
