Syria - Severe weather and floods – DREF replenishment (DG ECHO, WMO, Meteo SY, media) (ECHO Daily Flash of 18 March 2026)

Country: Syrian Arab Republic Source: European Commission's Directorate-General for European Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid Operations Heavy rainfall, strong winds and thunderstorms have been affecting northern Syria, notably the Aleppo, Raqqa and Hassakeh Governorates since 14 March, causing floods and flash floods that have resulted in casualties, damage and the closure of the Semalka border crossing bridge. Some 10 000 people in 25 displacement sites are estimated to be affected, as well as 6 fatalities.
