Trump may be searching for a clear “victory image.” But whether that means control of the Strait of Hormuz, the three disputed islands, Kharg Island, or Iran’s enriched uranium stockpile, such objectives would be extremely difficult to achieve. They would carry significant risks and, even if successful, would almost certainly prolong the fighting. On the other hand, without such a visible victory, it is doubtful that Trump would choose to stop the war.
